Statement of Purpose

The facility’s program plan will embody the principles of normalization in the least restrictive environment, promote independence appropriate to age, and emphasize a commitment in all facets of daily living and programming that is integrative in nature, as well as philosophy.

These tenets of philosophy will permeate all aspects of audits, because of their present environment and histories. The facility’s primary goal is to present a “home-like” setting, just as any other non-disabled home in the community, and to offer opportunities to the consumers to participate in age-appropriate activities as much as they are able, to their fullest potential, similar to non-disabled adults in the area.

The facility’s program will be based on a behavioral model. This model will not include aversive concepts, but will focus on positive reinforcement solely. Self-esteem building via positive reinforcement is crucial to development. In addition to those positive opportunities that the community affords, the plan will provide a number of “house” centered activities that can be linked to the individual’s building responsibility, self-esteem, character development, and sense of accomplishment.

Finally, and perhaps the most important aim of this facility is to provide services that assist consumer’s movement into a more normative lifestyle. Services offered will be those that enhance the capacities of consumers with severe deficits in self-help skills, and severe disruptive or self injurious behaviors.
It is the intent of this facility to provide support to each individual, and the opportunity to lead a fulfilled life.
